ZVV Announces First Ticket Price Increase in Seven Years
Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV) has announced a ticket price increase, the first in seven years. The average rise of 2.1 percent is set for the December timetable change. This move aims to maintain the cost coverage ratio of public transport in Zürich above 60 percent, as mandated by the cantonal parliament.
The price hike comes after a period of service improvements and expansions by ZVV, despite prices remaining unchanged. Additionally, the consumer price index has risen by 7.8 percent since the last adjustment. The new prices will reflect the accumulated inflation since the last tariff adjustment in December 2023, which was 3.4 percent below the national average. The responsible authority for this announcement is ZVV.
The average ticket price increase of 2.1 percent is set to take effect in December. This adjustment is necessary to ensure that public transport in Zürich maintains a cost coverage ratio of over 60 percent, as required by the cantonal parliament. The last price adjustment was in December 2023, and this increase aligns with the accumulated inflation since then.
