Yakutia maintains the second highest rate in Russia for individual home construction projects.
In the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD), Yakutia (the Sakha Republic) has emerged as a frontrunner in individual housing construction, outpacing regions such as Sakhalin, Khabarovsk Krai, and the Amur region. This achievement is a testament to the region's commitment to housing development, as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In 2024, Yakutia set a record with the commissioning of 752,000 sq.m of housing, a figure that is expected to strengthen its position in the FEFD housing construction rankings if current trends continue. The annual plan for housing construction in Yakutia stands at 690,000 sq.m, with 330,000 sq.m earmarked for multi-apartment buildings and 360,000 sq.m for individual housing construction.
The first half of 2025 saw Yakutia commission 3148 residential and non-residential buildings with a combined area of 516,200 sq.m. In the individual housing construction (IHC) segment, 283,800 sq.m were commissioned, marking a significant 117.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth places Yakutia among the top three leaders in terms of housing commissioning in the FEFD as of the first half of 2025.
While the FEFD as a whole led Russia in growth of construction work in 2023, with a 19.3% increase, reaching a construction volume of 1.44 trillion rubles, Yakutia's commissioning of IHC buildings in the first half of 2025 is one of the best indicators in the FEFD. However, direct comparisons of Yakutia's individual housing construction or commissioning volumes with other Far Eastern regions are not readily available.
Despite the lack of direct comparison, it is clear that Yakutia is making significant strides in housing development. Over the past ten years, more than 6,500,000 sq.m of housing have been built in the region. As of the beginning of 2025, 400,600 sq.m of housing have been commissioned.
Elsewhere in the FEFD, Primorsky Krai leads in the commissioning of residential and non-residential buildings, with 3168 buildings commissioned in the first half of 2025, representing a total area of 1,034,100 sq.m. In the IHC segment, 399,200 sq.m were commissioned in Primorsky Krai, while Buryatia commissioned 2183 buildings with a total area of 478,800 sq.m in the first half of 2025, with 257,000 sq.m in the IHC segment.
As the housing construction sector continues to grow in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yakutia's commitment to improving living conditions for its residents through the "Housing" regional project of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" is commendable. The region's focus on individual housing construction bodes well for its future development and the well-being of its people.
