Xpeng Expands Advanced Driver Assistance to 50 Chinese Cities, Eyes Europe by 2024

Xpeng Motors is rapidly expanding its advanced driver assistance system, XNGP, to 50 cities in China by December. The company also aims to enter European markets by the end of 2024, bringing its autonomous driving technology to Germany, France, and the UK.

Xpeng's City NGP, an enhanced version of XNGP, is set to navigate intersections and avoid obstacles with ease. This capability is powered by Xpeng's XNet deep learning neural network and a proprietary closed-loop AI system. The company unveiled XBrain and XPlanner, key architecture components for autonomous driving, during its Tech Day event.

Xpeng aims to achieve full autonomy using a suite of sensors, including cameras, radar, and LiDAR. The pilot program for City NGP began in September 2021 and was officially launched in Beijing earlier this year. The EU, however, is investigating Chinese EV subsidies, which may impact Xpeng's European expansion.

XNGP will be available in select Xpeng models like P7, G9, P5, and G6 for self-navigation within cities. While the exact introduction date for Xpeng's ADAS variant City NGP in Europe is not specified, the company is committed to ensuring its solutions comply with European data protection rules.
