Wealth market acquisitions on the radar for Clearlake Credit, aiming for expansion
Clearlake Capital Expands Credit Offerings with Launch of Clearlake Credit
Clearlake Capital, a leading private equity firm established in 2006, has taken a significant step forward in its growth journey with the launch of Clearlake Credit. This unified credit business, introduced in May 2025, aims to become a one-stop-shop for financing needs, offering solutions for various credit requirements.
The formation of Clearlake Credit comes as a result of strategic acquisitions in the credit space. The business incorporates MV Credit, a pan-European private credit manager recently acquired from Natixis Investment Managers, WhiteStar Asset Management, which was acquired in 2020, and Clearlake Capital's existing credit business. James Pade, a partner and managing director at Clearlake Capital, is overseeing this new credit division.
Pade's vision for Clearlake Credit is to provide an extensive credit platform that caters to the diverse financing needs of sponsor-backed companies globally. To achieve this, the firm plans to continue making multiple acquisitions to expand its presence and capabilities, reinforcing its position in the private credit and wealth markets.
Clearlake Credit's integrated origination team aims to satisfy all lending needs of private equity sponsors. The firm boasts liquid credit capabilities across the US and Europe through WhiteStar Asset Management, and a private credit offering that provides senior, junior, and hybrid debt and capital solutions.
With a focus on flexibility, integration, and large-scale credit capital solutions, Clearlake Credit is poised to serve dynamic companies. The firm's ambition extends beyond just acquisitions, as it seeks to expand its market presence and cater to individual investors, who James Pade believes find private credit particularly well suited to their investment portfolios.
As of August 2025, Clearlake Capital now manages $90bn (£66.8bn) of assets across private equity and credit. The firm is considering entering the asset-based lending and fund financing markets, further broadening its credit offerings.
