Volvo Group Launches PU2000: A Safe, Cost-Efficient Battery Energy Storage System
Volvo Group has launched the PU2000, a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) designed to optimize energy costs and enhance operational resilience. Elisabeth Larsson, SVP and Head of Sales & Services at Volvo Energy, sees this as a significant step in the company's expansion into energy solutions.
The PU2000 is a tangible example of Volvo Group's commitment to the green transition. It offers flexible performance, supporting peak shaving, load shifting, energy cost optimization, grid market revenue generation, EV charging integration, and island mode operation. This system is designed to support the transition to electrification, expanding Volvo Group's portfolio into energy solutions.
Safety is a key feature of the PU2000. It includes advanced fire prevention, liquid cooling, PFAS-free direct injection fire suppression, and robust cybersecurity. The system is designed, developed, and manufactured in Sweden by Volvo Energy, a part of the Volvo Group. It seamlessly integrates with the Volvo Site Controller and Volvo Cloud Energy Management System (VEMS) for real-time monitoring and cost-optimized energy use.
The PU2000, introduced by Volvo Group, is a cost-efficient and safe battery energy storage system. It aligns with the company's ambition to be a leading force in the shift toward electrification and the green transition. By helping customers optimize energy costs and decarbonize operations, the PU2000 supports Volvo Group's commitment to sustainability.
