Veszprém-Balaton to Host ECOC-Echo Seminar: Past, Present, Future Capitals Converge
The Veszprém-Balaton region, having held the title of European Capital of Culture in 2023, is set to host the ECOC-Echo Seminar from October 6 to 8, 2025. This event brings together representatives from past, current, and future European Capitals of Culture to discuss the sustainable impacts of the title on cities and regions. The seminar is co-financed by the European Union's Interreg Europe program.
Chemnitz, Germany, will send a delegation to the seminar, joining other past, current, and future European Capitals of Culture. The event aims to facilitate idea exchange and networking among these cities. Tibor Navracsics, Hungarian Minister for Regional Development and former EU Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and Gyula Porga, Mayor of Veszprém, will lead expert sessions. While the full list of participating cities is not yet confirmed, typical participants include international cities such as Novi Sad, Timișoara, Bodø, Bad Ischl, Tartu, Rijeka, Plovdiv, Leeuwarden, Valletta, and Paphos.
