VesselConstructors Host Public Competition to Label Region's Biggest Floatable Crane in the Middle East

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Dubai residents are given a unique opportunity to make their mark on regional maritime history by participating in a city-wide competition to name a new 5,000-tonne floating crane, the largest of its kind in the Middle East and Africa.

The competition, launched by Drydocks World, a subsidiary of DP World, invites participants to submit names that reflect the UAE's values, such as strength, maritime heritage, and innovation, either in Arabic or English. Each entry must include a short explanation of the inspiration behind the proposed name.

The competition is open to all Dubai residents, including engineers, creatives, students, and everyday residents alike. The panel of judges for the competition includes branding experts, in addition to Drydocks World leadership and Emirati cultural figures.

The crane, currently under construction by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (ZPMC), has a capacity to lift loads of up to 5,000 tonnes and a reach of 180 metres. It is designed to support mega maritime and energy projects. The name for the crane must be selected now to be engraved onto the crane during its fabrication phase.

The winner of the competition will receive a signed full-size 2025 McLaren Racing helmet, presented in celebration of the upcoming Formula 1 finale at Yas Marina Circuit. The chosen name will become a permanent part of regional maritime history, engraved into one of the world's most powerful cranes.

Entries can be submitted via the competition website, www.dpworld/nameourcrane.com, before August 4, 2025. H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, is involved in the competition.

This is a fantastic chance for Dubai residents to leave a lasting legacy and contribute to the city's ongoing development. So, get creative, and let your ideas shine!
