Updated Changan Deepal S07 Sports Utility Vehicle Debuts with Huawei-Powered Driving Assist Technology
In a significant move for the Chinese automotive industry, Changan Deepal, a new energy vehicle unit of Changan Automobile, has launched the updated S07 mid-size SUV. This latest model comes equipped with Huawei's smart driving system, marking a strategic partnership between the two companies.
The updated S07 offers both BEV and EREV variants, catering to a diverse range of environmentally-conscious consumers. The BEV variant of the updated S07 comes standard with a rear motor delivering 200 kW (268 horsepower) and 290 Nm of torque. This powerful electric motor propels the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 7.5 or 7.6 seconds. The BEV variants feature a 68.82-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, offering a CLTC pure electric range of 550 kilometers.
The EREV variants of the updated S07, on the other hand, feature LFP batteries with capacities of 31.73 kWh and 39.05 kWh, delivering pure electric ranges of 230 km and 300 km respectively under CLTC standards. It's worth noting that the L07 sedan, another model in Changan Deepal's current lineup, does not offer BEV or EREV variants.
The L07 sedan comes standard with a 1.5-liter engine serving as a range-extender, achieving an average thermal efficiency of 44.39 percent. The sedan is equipped with Huawei's Qiankun ADS SE smart driving assistance system, the entry-level tier within Huawei's Qiankun smart driving portfolio.
The updated S07 has a higher starting price compared to its previous generation, with a RMB 7,000 increase, or 4.67 percent. The starting guide price for the BEV variant of the updated S07 is RMB 156,900 ($22,060), while the starting guide price for the EREV variant ranges from RMB 156,900 to RMB 173,900.
The Huawei Qiankun smart driving system comprises multiple tiers: ADS SE, ADS Pro, ADS Max, and ADS Ultra. The updated S07's integration of this system is expected to enhance safety and driving efficiency for its users.
The mid-size SUV measures 4,750 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,625 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. With a full tank and fully charged battery, the combined range of the L07 sedan reaches 1,320 km and 1,385 km for the BEV and EREV variants respectively.
Linktour Automotive, not Changan Deepal, launched the L07 Sedan model with Huawei's smart driving system in 2023. The first model from Changan Deepal, the SL03, was officially launched on July 25, 2022, and is positioned as a competitor to the Tesla Model 3.
The updated S07 mid-size SUV and the L07 sedan are significant additions to Changan Deepal's current lineup, which includes the S05 SUV, SL03 sedan, and G318 SUV. This strategic move by Changan Deepal is expected to strengthen their position in the competitive Chinese automotive market.
