Upcoming Affordable 4x4 Vehicle: The 2025 Toyota LandCruiser FJ will be unveiled in October, offering a budget-friendly off-road experience.
The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Toyota prepares to unveil its latest creation, the Land Cruiser FJ, at the Tokyo Mobility Show in October. This new vehicle, also known as the Toyota 500D, is expected to make a significant impact in the market, especially in Australia where it could potentially be launched.
Based on Toyota's ute platform, the 500D shares more similarities with the Hilux or Fortuner than the Prado or 300 Series. Its design, however, is expected to take inspiration from the Land Cruiser Prado, promising a blend of ruggedness and elegance.
If the Land Cruiser FJ does make its way to Australia, it could be future-proofed with a petrol-hybrid powertrain, a move that aligns with Toyota's commitment to sustainable technology. This could also extend to other global markets, including America, where the FJ could potentially be offered with a petrol-hybrid powertrain.
The dimensions of the Toyota 500D are impressive, measuring 4410mm in length, 1855mm in width, and 1870mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2580mm. It will also boast impressive approach, break over, and departure angles of 33, 26, and 23 degrees respectively, ensuring it can handle a variety of terrains.
The 500D will feature a 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine, similar to other Toyota products, and will offer a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. It will also come equipped with 4WD, a centre-locking differential, and a limited-split differential.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the Land Cruiser FJ is its potential global production. If launched, the vehicle will be built by Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. at the Ban Pho assembly plant in Chachoengsao, Thailand. While no precise global release date has been specified, it is likely that the FJ will become available in global markets after local production begins.
Toyota Australia's VP of Sales and Marketing, Sean Hanley, was informed about the trademark application for the Land Cruiser FJ as a surprise. Despite this, Hanley expressed his gladness that the FJ trademark was locked down by Toyota. However, he stated that he is not aware of the product or any plans to use the trademark at the moment.
As the Tokyo Mobility Show approaches, anticipation for the Land Cruiser FJ continues to grow. With its promising specifications and potential global reach, this new 4x4 could be a game-changer for Toyota and the automotive industry as a whole. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the unveiling.
