Unpaid Wages Cause Legal Trouble for Ateliere in Multiple Lawsuits
Ateliere Creative Services, a renowned company in the creative industry, is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with former employees in Romania. The controversy stems from the non-payment of salaries for the months of April and May 2025, following the company's decision to abandon its planned acquisition of Codemill.
This decision led to the ousting of CEO Dan Goman and the installation of new leadership at Ateliere. Three separate lawsuits have been filed—two by individuals and one collective suit by over 20 former staff—alleging unpaid wages and benefits.
The employees claim that after layoffs at the Romanian base, Ateliere promised to process the missing payments but then cut all communication, forcing them to pursue legal action. According to the spokesman for the group, the legal action is the only way to get the owed payments.
Ateliere has acknowledged that decisions made by the former leadership, including during Dan Goman’s tenure, had negatively impacted operations and harmed employees. In response, the company's investors replaced the board and leadership, distancing themselves from prior actions and committing to resolving employee issues transparently and responsibly. The new board has prioritised undoing the damage caused by earlier management decisions.
The spokesman clarified that nobody who filed a lawsuit demands compensation but only what they are legally entitled to, according to their contracts. He also stated that Ateliere had promised to process the missing payments but then ceased all communication with the impacted individuals. Since then, the new board has disavowed the prior actions taken during this period and has since ended all ties with the responsible party.
The board's top priority is to address and resolve the issues impacting employees and to move forward with a renewed focus on transparency, accountability, and respect for their people. As the legal proceedings unfold, Ateliere aims to restore its reputation and regain the trust of its employees and the wider industry.
