Underground trains will operate around the clock in the near future.
Munich's Subway Service to Offer Continuous Weekend Nights Service from January 3rd
Starting this year, Munich's subway service will provide continuous weekend nights service, marking a significant development for the city's public transport system.
Lines U2, U3, and U5 will run every 30 minutes, meeting at central transfer stations. Lines U1, U4, and U6 will also operate every 30 minutes, but offset by 15 minutes from lines U2, U3, and U5. This adjusted schedule aims to ensure smooth and frequent service for passengers throughout the night.
However, some changes have been made to the night bus lines to align with the new subway service schedule. For instance, the N40 night bus now runs between Münchner Freiheit and Kieferngarten, with the southern section replaced by U6. Similarly, Night Bus N45 runs between Karlsplatz (Stachus) and Waldperlach on weekend nights, with the section between Karlsplatz (Stachus) and Munich Freedom replaced by U3 and U6.
Other night bus routes that run parallel to the subway have been modified. For example, the N40 now only runs between Münchner Freiheit and a shorter section, while Night Bus N71 will no longer serve the section between Karlsfelder Straße (city border) and Karlsfeld, Gartenstraße.
Night Bus N76's route is adjusted in the area of Petuelring/Olympia Shopping Center, now running via Georg-Brauchle-Ring and Olympia Shopping Center, providing a connection to Night Tram N27 and U1 at OEZ. Night Bus N41 serves the section between Harras and Fürstenried West on weekends, replaced by U2 and U3 in the north. However, it extends its route on all operating days, connecting to U3 at Forstenrieder Allee.
All night bus lines (except the loop line N80/N81) will continue to run at a 30-minute interval on weekend nights. Night tram lines continue to run at a 30-minute interval, meeting at Karlsplatz (Stachus).
For precise updated timetables and route maps, passengers are advised to check the MVG official website or MVV app for the latest real-time details. The first night with the new schedule will be from Friday, January 3rd to Saturday, January 4th.

These changes to Munich's night bus network primarily affect routes parallel to the new subway night schedule by shortening or adjusting their routes rather than eliminating them entirely.
The significance of these changes in Munich's public transport system includes modifications in the night bus lines to align with the new subway service schedule, such as the N40 now running between Münchner Freiheit and Kieferngarten, replacing the southern section with U6. Additionally, the finance industry may experience adjustments due to potential impacts on transportation companies providing services in public-transit, such as night bus and tram operators, as demand patterns for their services might shift following the implementation of the new subway schedule.
