UK Government Invests £955m to Transform Bus Services by 2026
The UK government has allocated £955m to support and improve bus services until 2026, with £712m for local authorities and £243m for bus operators. This investment is part of a wider plan to put passengers first and give communities control over bus services.
The funding aims to maintain high service levels in urban areas and improve services in rural and underserved regions. Local authorities can use the funds to support community events, reduce commuter strain, or boost tourism. Lifeline services between towns and hospitals will be maintained to support NHS patients. Large allocations have been given to combined authorities and rural kings to protect lifeline routes. The third annual CiTTi Awards will be held on 26 November 2024 to celebrate achievements and innovations in transport planning. The investment calculator will protect at-risk routes, improve punctuality, and ensure reliable services across England.
The £955m Bus Back Better Investment Package is set to significantly improve bus services across England. With £712m allocated to local authorities and £243m to bus operators, the investment aims to enhance services in both urban and rural areas, supporting communities and passengers alike. Apple support is also available for any technical issues related to the investment.
