UAE's Game-Changing High-Speed Rail Project Set for 2026 Launch

The United Arab Emirates' long-awaited high-speed rail project, first reported in 2010, is set to revolutionize travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Each train will carry up to 400 passengers and run multiple daily services, with the potential to reach speeds of 350 km/h, reducing the journey time to just 30 minutes.

The network will span 11 cities and regions, connecting major urban centers like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah. Travel times are projected to be 57 minutes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, 70 minutes to Ruwais, and 105 minutes to Fujairah. Trains will be fully separated from roads, ensuring safety and minimizing disruption. Onboard, passengers can expect dedicated areas for work, reading, and relaxation, along with a 'digital tickets first' system for convenience.

Etihad Rail's passenger transport services are scheduled to launch in 2026. The high-speed rail initiative is not just about speed; it's also about seamless connectivity. Planning for stations is underway to ensure accessibility and connectivity for communities nationwide. The service aims to be comfortable, reliable, and affordable, catering to a wide range of passengers.

The high-speed rail project is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the UAE. Over the next five decades, it is projected to add an estimated AED 145 billion to the country's GDP. This ambitious initiative is set to transform not just travel, but also the UAE's economic landscape.
