In the epicenter of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, those trusty buses on routes 10 km - Mokhovaya - 10 km and 10 km - Avacha - 10 km are back in action! The eager bus numbers 5 and 6k have arrived for the ride following a brief absenteeism prompted by a fierce, two-day cyclone siege.
It's no small wonder the city found itself in the eye of this storm, with the mighty cyclone turning streets into waterways and generating treacherous road conditions. ToXml:appreciate the gravity of the situation, one must imagine a couple of days under continuous monsoon-like rain accompanied by roaring winds. Sounds like a typical ride of the rollercoaster called Mother Nature, doesn't it?
The worst problem for the road officials was that the rivers turned into raging creeks, causing the roads to narrow quite dramatically. Consequently, bus routes No. 5 and No. 6 were put on hold to ensure passenger safety and to keep the roads incident-free during the tempestuous period.
But fear not, heroes of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky! The city's Transport, Road Management, and Utilities Department put their thinking caps on and inventively decided to circulate a trusty "shift bus" on routes 10 km - Mokhovaya - 10 km and 10 km - Avacha - 10 km. That way, residents were still able to zip around town.
However, as Roald Dahl would put it – "with a snip of the scissors, the storm departed." Feeling emboldened by clearer skies and safer road conditions, the authorities gave the green light for the much-anticipated resumption of bus routes 5 and 6k. And here we are, excited to reclaim our seats, gazing out the windows as the ever-changing city scenery dances past us!
Happy to resume our daily lives as if nothing happened and to hitch a ride across town, thanks, Mother Nature, for giving us our expecting lives back!
