Train wreck in Singen - disrupted rail transportation
In the quaint town of Singen am Bodensee, nestled in the south of Germany, a freight train took an unexpected dip during a routine shunting operation on Tuesday afternoon. The mishap led to a significant disruption in the region's train traffic, as reported by Deutsche Bahn.
A spokeperson from the rail service unveiled that the derailment resulted in damage to an overhead line, causing delays, cancellations, and diversions. Replacement buses have been drafted in for the passengers' convenience.
The incident, previously reported by "Südkurier," unfolded in the heart of Singen's station area, causing a power pole to bend awkwardly. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained in the commotion.
The expansive disruption has affected train services between Radolfzell and Engen, and Singen's connection with Thayngen, Switzerland. The Regional Express connecting Konstanz and Karlsruhe has been axed, while IC trains linking Stuttgart and Zürich, as well as those running between Radolfzell and Konstanz, are limited between Stuttgart and Tuttlingen.
With Bahn staff busy cleaning up and assessing the damage, the duration of the disruption remains uncertain.
