The Kangru traffic junction, situated on the border of Kiili and Saku municipalities, has largely opened to traffic as of July 15, 2025. This significant development follows a year-long construction project aimed at improving the intersections with Viljandi maantee, the Kurna–Tuhala state road, and the Rail Baltica railway.

Vehicles headed towards Rapla and Kiili are now being directed to the newly completed section of road, while the old direct connection between Tallinn and Kangru has been closed for both vehicles and pedestrians. New pedestrian and bicycle paths have also been opened to accommodate the increased foot and cycle traffic.

However, temporary speed limits and lane reductions remain in place until early September 2025, due to ongoing construction work. Road users are asked to stay alert and follow the temporary traffic arrangements at the junction.

Bus stop locations have changed at the Kangru traffic junction, but no specific information has been provided regarding the changes. It is essential for commuters to familiarise themselves with the new layout to ensure a smooth journey.

The completion of the entire project is expected in the first quarter of 2026. Once completed, the Kangru traffic junction is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety for all road users.

For the latest updates and information on the Kangru traffic junction, road users are advised to visit the relevant municipal websites or contact local authorities.

  1. The transport industry will benefit from the improvements at Kangru traffic junction as it will enhance the overall transportation experience.
  2. The finance sector may also see positive changes due to the expected increase in commerce and trade once the completed Kangru traffic junction alleviates the traffic congestion.
