Tomsk's Agri-Export Slumps by 25% in 2024

Ah, the distant land of Tomsk, where the soil's bounty seems to never cease! But alas, the past year hasn't been all sunshine and roses. According to Natalieiya Zabavnova, the head of the regional Department of Consumer Market, the export of agricultural products has taken an unexpected nosedive, shrinking by a whopping 25.2% from the previous year, down to a staggering $63 million in 2024.

Zabavnova revealed that around 40 local companies have shipped their goods to a melange of 31 nations. As for the star players in the export game, it's the trusty meat and dairy duo - think succulent cured meats, buttery butters, and the like - dominating the scene. Wild game rounds out the top 4, though it's a distant fourth. Way down south, we're talkin' 'bout 11,320 metric tonnes of wild game sashayed into buckets, swirls, and cans, yielding a humble but delicious 27,000 tonnes of delectable edibles. The Tomsk producers pocketed a decent $9.65 million from the wild game bonanza. Unfortunately, Zabavnova didn't share insights about earnings from the remaining categories.

It seems that 2024 was a bit of a stormy year for Tomsk's exports. The pricey rapeseed oil exports plummeted by a whopping 50%, while the $84.2 million racketeered in 2023 vanished into thin air. Goods once shipped to a dazzling 35 nations were scaled down to 31. Congratulations, Armenia, Belarus, Bolivia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Latvia, the United Arab Emirates, the USA, Turkey, the Czech Republic, and South Korea for making the 2024 cut!

Rapeseed syrups and jellies were sent to an equally exciting lineup: Germany, Latvia, the United Arab Emirates, Mongolia, and the USA. Meanwhile, Vietnam, Georgia, the USA, Latvia, Turkmenistan, and South Ossetia were hooked on Tomsk's wheat flour. Rapeseed oil made its way to China, while the meat and sausages hopped aboard planes destined for China, Mongolia, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

In case you're ever wanderin' abroad and cravin' a taste of Tomsk, here's a little tip: keep your eyes peeled for their meaty, dairy, and gamey delicacies, syrups, and jellies. 'Tis a veritable feast for the senses!

But how do the Tomsk region's exports compare to other similar areas? Well, it seems they're in good company, with common exports including grains, potatoes, veggies, and livestock products. These regions tend to focus on crops suitable to their local climate. As for the hotspots for exporting these goods, it's typically neighboring countries and major importers of Russian agricultural products. For detailed data on Tomsk's export trends and specific figures, consulting official agricultural statistics or trade reports is the way to go!

Despite Tomsk's Agri-Export slumping by 25% in 2024, strong exports of meat, dairy, and wild game still managed to earn $9.65 million. However, the sharp decline in rapeseed oil exports, with a decrease of 50%, significantly affected the overall industry. The finance sector also saw a reduction in the number of nations receiving Tomsk's goods, falling from 35 to 31.

Agricultural product exports in Tomsk region amounted to $63 million in 2024, a 25.2% decrease compared to the previous year, according to data provided by the regional head of consumer market department, Natalieiya Zabavnova's site.
