Three Turkish Men Sentenced for Wage Theft and Social Security Fraud
Three Turkish-origin men, aged 47, 48, and 55, have been sentenced to a total of 140 months in prison by the Stuttgart Regional Court. They were found guilty of withholding and misappropriating wages, defrauding SOKA Bau, and evading social security and social fund contributions. The verdict is not yet final.
The men, who operated as a group from June 2019 until September 2023, generated millions in turnover while paying minimal contributions. They were arrested during nationwide raids in October 2023, involving around 200 officers from the Financial Control of Black Work of the Main Customs Office Heilbronn. Marcel Schröder, the press spokesperson of the Hauptzollamt Heilbronn, can provide further details on this case.
The sentences handed down were four years for the 47-year-old, four years for the 48-year-old, and three years and eight months for the 55-year-old. All three have been in custody since their arrest.
The three men exploited their workers, evaded their social responsibilities, and defrauded SOKA Bau. The court's decision sends a strong message against such practices, and the case serves as a reminder of the importance of fair labor practices and adherence to social security contributions.
