We mined data from both Zillow's home value index and the 2023 American Community Survey, scrutinizing thousands of ZIP codes from across the U.S. Our focus narrowed in on the 78 ZIP codes that Zillow monitors in Hawaii. Our analysis took into consideration the most recent monthly home values from Zillow – to be precise, December 2024 – as well as the average of 12 months of median home values, recorded from January 2024 to December 2024.

Top 5 Most Costly ZIP Codes in Hawaii

  1. Coming in at the zenith of Hawaii's most costly ZIP codes is 96714, with Hanalei as its center. This small yet affluent section of Kauai boasts a population where over a quarter of households bring home an annual income of $200,000 or above. The median household income is an impressive $132,115, while the average household income stands tall at $140,126. Back in December 2019, home values already commanded a lofty $1.528 million. However, this median value soared by a whopping 77.2% to an astounding $2.708 million in December 2024.
  2. Just a stone's throw to the east of ZIP code 96714 lies the second priciest ZIP code in Hawaii – 96754, with Kilauea at its heart. With a more significant landmass than its neighbor and stretching over a longer span of Kauai's northern coast, this ZIP code boasts a population where 20% of households earn $200,000 or more annually. The median household income is $85,428, with the average household income standing at $123,311. Home values in 96754 saw an impressive surge of 70.9% from December 2019 to December 2024, with a remarkable hike between December 2021 and December 2022, from $1.365 million to practically $1.749 million.

Home values inched up at a similar rate to the third most expensive ZIP code, rising by 31.7% from nearly $1.221 million in December 2019 to over $1.608 million in December 2024.
  5. Taking us back to Kauai, the fifth most expensive ZIP code in Hawaii is 96722. This narrow yet lavish stretch of the northern coast, bordering the Halelea Forest Reserve in the island's interior, saw its home values nearly double over the past five years. This particular ZIP code currently commands a median home value of more than $1.487 million, following a monumental increase of 92.9% from its 2019 value of $771,431.
