Temporary Ban on Dangerous Goods: The Federal Police Directorate of Munich halts transportation of hazardous materials at eight Bavarian train stations and two S-Bahn stations within the city

Temporary prohibition of hazardous items enacted at eight Bavarian railway stations and two S-Bahn stations in Munich by the Federal Police Directorate Munich.

The Federal Police Directorate Munich (Bundespolizeidirektion München) has issued an ordinance that bans the carrying of dangerous tools, firearms, imitation firearms, cutting, piercing, and blunt weapons, as well as all types of knives, in several Munich train stations and S-Bahn stops, effective from December 31, 2024, 12:00 PM to January 1, 2025, 12:00 PM. The ordinance also applies to main stations in Nuremberg, Augsburg, Regensburg, Würzburg, and Aschaffenburg.

Posters at the aforementioned locations will inform passengers about the carry ban. For inquiries, individuals can contact Matthias Knott at the Press Office, reachable via telephone at 089 12149-1019, email at [email protected], or visit the Federal Police website at http://www.bundespolizei.de.

The ban is implemented for safety reasons, aimed at preventing violent crimes and protecting passengers and police officers from potential attacks. Federal Police personnel will monitor compliance with the ban.

Violations of the ordinance may result in the seizure of objects and an administrative fine. It is important to note that this administrative fine is independent of any criminal or administrative offense proceedings under the Weapons Act. Further consequences of violating the ordinance may include a ban from the premises or a station ban.

The detailed provisions and exceptions to the ban are available in the attached ordinances, which can be found on the Federal Police website at https://www.bundespolizei.de/SiteGlobals/Forms/Websites/Web/Suche/DE/Aktuelles/Meldungen_Formular.html?nn=5931606&path=fqPathMeldungen.
