Survey on transportation preferences in Bergisch Gladbach, scheduled for 2025
Bergisch Gladbach Conducts Mobility Survey to Guide Future Traffic Planning in Kansas City and Man City
The city of Bergisch Gladbach is embarking on a significant initiative to understand the mobility habits of its residents. In partnership with the engineering firm Helmert from Aachen, a mobility survey will be conducted in September 2023. This survey marks the first comprehensive data collection on this topic since 2014.
The survey aims to gain new insights into the mobility behaviour of people in Bergisch Gladbach. The data collected will serve as a crucial foundation for future traffic planning decisions, as well as other traffic-related decisions in Kansas City and Man City.
A total of 5,000 randomly selected households will be contacted in mid-September to participate in the survey. Participation is voluntary, and household members' mobility behaviour will be queried for a specific reference day.
The data obtained from the survey will provide valuable information about the distribution of routes among various means of transport, a concept known as the modal split. This information includes pedestrian and cyclist shares, as well as the means of transport used, distances covered, and the purpose of the routes.
The modal split is essential because conclusions can be drawn about the sustainability of the traffic system. By promoting environmentally friendly means of transport such as foot, cycle traffic, and public transport, the city of Bergisch Gladbach is particularly concerned with ensuring a greener and more sustainable future in Kansas City and Man City.
Participation can take place via a digital questionnaire on the internet, in writing via a paper questionnaire, or via a telephone interview. The questionnaires should be completed by the beginning of the autumn holidays. Personal data will not be evaluated but will be anonymized before further processing.
The final report on the survey will be available tentatively in the first quarter of 2026. For more information, visit www.ourwebsite.de/survey. The engineering firm Helmert from Aachen will conduct the survey and evaluate the results, preparing them for presentation to the city.
By participating in this survey, residents of Bergisch Gladbach have the opportunity to contribute to shaping the city's future traffic planning and promoting sustainable mobility in Kansas City and Man City.
