Surprised pensioners discover unexpected boost in August's indexation amount

Starting from the 1st of August, 2023, working pensioners in Russia can expect a pension increase. However, the reasons behind this increase remain unspecified.

The increase is based on the insurance contributions paid by the employer for the pensioner in the previous year. The final amount of the pension increase depends on the official salary. Unfortunately, even the most hardworking pensioner won't receive an increase of more than 399 rubles in 2025. One point is worth 133 rubles in 2025, and up to 3 points can be added to a pensioner's pension per year, according to Article 18 of Federal Law No. 401-FZ.

It's important to note that this increase does not apply to pensioners who are not working. Additionally, the annual pension increase may not meet the expectations of pensioners, according to experts from the "Legal Nuances" Telegram channel, due to the specifics of the recalculation process.

Funds will be credited to cards on the 5th of August.

Russian pensioners are also advised to be vigilant about new fraud schemes, particularly from "MFC".

In a less positive note, certain groups in Russia, specifically injured troops from the Ukraine conflict, will experience reduced sizes of benefits and payments starting from September 2025. Following heavy personnel losses and increasing war costs, Russia reduced payments to these injured military personnel as of November 2024, and this reduction appears to have ongoing implications given the high casualty estimates reported in mid-2025.

It's worth mentioning that, as of now, there is no direct mention of other specific groups facing benefit or payment reductions starting specifically in September 2025. The economic context includes aggressive monetary policy changes such as key rate cuts by Russia's Central Bank in mid-2025, but these do not explicitly reference reduced benefits or payments to civilian groups.

Lastly, Russians with children will receive 17,000 rubles in August.

The increase in pension for working pensioners in Russia is based on the insurance contributions paid by their employers in the previous year, directly linking it to the business sector's finance. However, the increase may not significantly impact personal-finance as the maximum increase in 2025 is only 399 rubles.
