Applications for Kentucky's Summer Subsidy program under LIHEAP will be available from July 28 till September 12.

Summer applications for Kentucky's LIHEAP Subsidy program are available from July 28th to September 12th.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Summer Subsidy in Kentucky is here to help eligible households with their electric bill costs. This one-time benefit is designed to assist with cooling expenses during the hot summer months.

To qualify, households must have an income level that does not exceed 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and be responsible for their electric costs. It's worth noting that prior LIHEAP assistance does not affect eligibility for the Summer Subsidy.

Applications for the Summer Subsidy will be accepted at local Community Action Agencies from July 28 to September 12, 2025. The application process is on a first-come, first-served basis.

To apply, applicants should provide the following documents:

  • Proof of Social Security Number or Permanent Residence card (Green Card) for each household member
  • Proof of all household members’ income from the preceding month
  • Most current electric bill (or landlord/utility statement if electric is included in rent or a pre-pay program)
  • Account number and name on the electric bill and main heating fuel bills

It's important to note that the program does not require a disconnect notice, past-due bill, or eviction notice. Benefits are paid directly to the utility provider as a credit on the account.
