Strike Action Expands to Kaufland in Pforzheim, as Per Verdi's Warning
Breaking News: Verdi Announces Three-Day Warning Strike in Karlsruhe and Surroundings
The central strike day for the Middle Black Forest-North Palatinate district in Karlsruhe is scheduled for Friday, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing wage negotiations between Verdi and the HDE and employer side.
According to Union Secretary Robin Weller, it is the HDE and the employer side that have been blocking these negotiations for months, not Verdi. The employer's association initially stated that an agreement could be reached quickly at the beginning of the wage round, but this now appears to be a tactic that disadvantages employees in retail.
Verdi is demanding a 15% increase in wages and salaries in retail and 13% in wholesale, and they are also demanding a doubling of the social allowance in retail. In addition, the training allowance is set to increase by 200 euros in retail and 175 euros in wholesale. However, no agreement has been reached that provides for a sufficient and table-effective increase in wages and salaries.
The strike is being referred to as a "hot autumn in retail" by Verdi. Employees at Kaufland branches in the Karlsruhe area, as well as those at the specified retailers, are being called to participate in the warning strikes. A demonstration will start at the Europaplatz at 9:00 AM on Friday, followed by a one-hour rally at the Verdi House in the Rüppurer Street at 10:30 AM.
Several companies are affected, including two Kaufland branches (Am Mühlkanal and Hohwiesenweg), two supermarkets in Pforzheim, and various other retailers such as Primark Karlsruhe, Sport-Scheck Karlsruhe, Metro Gastro Bruchsal, dm distribution center in Waghaeusel, IKEA Karlsruhe, and H&M Karlsruhe.
As of now, the outcome of Verdi's three-day strike in retail and wholesale in Karlsruhe and its surroundings remains unclear, particularly regarding wage increases and agreements with affected companies. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we recommend checking news sources or Verdi's official communications for details on labor actions and negotiations in the region.
