Street Closure on Haller in Melle Continues for Remaining Project
In the district of Osnabrück, Germany, a significant bike path construction project on Haller Straße (K227) in Melle is set to enter its final phase from September 3 to September 27, 2024. The project, which began in early June 2024, aims to improve cycling infrastructure in the area.
During this period, a full closure of the remaining work on the bike path will be implemented. However, residents directly affected by the closure will still be able to access their properties, and school bus traffic will be able to navigate through the construction site.
The intersection of L95/K227, a known accident hotspot, will not be closed as it has already been rebuilt as part of this measure. For cyclists, a designated detour route has been established via Stiegteweg, Teichhausweg, Teichweg, Hauptweg, and Heerweg. This alternative path will be clearly signposted to guide cyclists around the construction site.
For motor vehicle traffic, a separate diversion route via Schledehausen over Krevinghauser Straße/Bahnhofstraße (L85), and other roads depending on the direction, has been established. It's important to note that the bike detour is different and has been specifically designed for cyclists as mentioned above.
The construction work includes tree felling and clearing that will be required for the new bike path, with completion expected by July 2025. Weather-related delays are possible, but the district of Osnabrück is committed to completing the project as soon as possible.
This second phase of the new bike path construction on Haller Straße (K227) in Melle marks the final phase of the project. The closure affects the area from the intersection of L95/K227 (Holterdorfer Straße/Haller Straße) to the state border. A detour via Holterdorfer Straße, Bielefelder Straße, and Wertherstraße will be established for other traffic.
The district of Osnabrück is working hard to improve cycling infrastructure in the region and hopes that this project will contribute to making Melle a safer and more bike-friendly town.
The construction work in the final phase of the bike path project on Haller Straße (K227) in Melle, due from September 3 to September 27, 2024, is not only limited to cycling infrastructure but also involves improvements in transportation, as a separate diversion route for motor vehicles has been established. Moreover, in the realm of finance and industry, this project signifies a significant investment in the district of Osnabrück, aiming to promote sustainable transportation and boost the accessibility of the town.
