Smooth Execution of Atruvia Implementation by Sparda-Bank BW Surpasses Expectations
Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg Successfully Migrates to Atruvia's Core Banking System
After a meticulous planning process and a strong team spirit, Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg has successfully completed its extensive IT migration project, moving to Atruvia's core banking system ahead of schedule. The new online banking platform went live on July 28 at 7 am.
The migration was aided by the use of TEO as a migration assistant, guiding customers through the transition to the new Agree21 environment. The old multi-banking app TEO remains active during the transition period.
The new online banking platform features a modernized TAN procedure, responsive design, and extended account functions. Customers will need to switch to the new platform, but the migration to the new Agree21 environment should make the switch as smooth as possible for them.
The success of the migration was attributed to stringent project management, detailed time and action plans, clear milestones, and close coordination between Sopra Financial Technology, Atruvia, and Sparda-Bank BW. However, about two percent of debit MasterCard transactions were temporarily rejected during the migration. Transactions up to 500 euros were consistently authorized from Friday to Saturday evening.
The bank card and debit MasterCard became fully usable from July 26, 8 pm. Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg's own ATMs resumed operation on Sunday morning.
The completion of the migration has laid the technical foundation for Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg's banking services. The use of "feel-good elements" during the weekend workdays helped motivate and focus the team throughout the project.
While no specific insights from the Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg case and its implications for IT migration projects are currently available, key lessons often include the importance of detailed project governance, robust data migration strategies, strong vendor collaboration, and contingency planning. These lessons may provide valuable guidance for future migration projects.
In the future, the TEO app will no longer be used as an online banking system. Customers are encouraged to make the switch to the new online banking platform to enjoy its improved features and services.
In light of the successful migration, Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg will now leverage the new core banking system for its business finance operations. The improved TEO app, though no longer a banking platform, will remain active during the transition period, offering guidance to customers transitioning to the Agree21 environment.
