Singer Luther Vandross Releases Unique Album Posthumously, Approaching Two Decades Since His Passing

After his demise in 2005, Luther Vandross continues to hold his position as a musical legend. He was incredibly popular during his lifetime and continues to be a beloved figure for millions of fans worldwide. Recently, a new compilation of his most popular tracks titled "Never Too Much - Greatest Hits" has made its way back onto the charts in the UK, providing a posthumous triumph for the late artist.

This compilation sees Vandross claiming a second-place victory on one chart, doubling his number of chart appearances even after his departure from the music world.

"Never Too Much - Greatest Hits" debuts on the Current Edition of the Official Albums Sales chart in the UK, appearing on the list with only two releases to its name, including the latest collection of singles. It first reached the list of bestselling albums and EPs in the UK just a few months ago, peaking at No. 61 before disappearing from the charts.

"Never Too Much", which served as Vandross' debut album, was released in 1981. The name has now taken on a new significance, serving as an introduction to the iconic singer and his most recent posthumous collection.

The compilation also marks Vandross' third appearance on the Official Album Downloads chart in his career. It garners even better success on this tally, debuting at No. 54. Previously, two other singles-packed offerings were the only other times his music appeared on this chart, as none of his traditional studio efforts have ever managed to chart on a list that focuses solely on the most downloaded full-length albums in the country.

Vandross has seen far more success on the Official Physical Albums chart, where he began charting in the mid-90s during his heyday. He now boasts over a dozen wins on this tally and adds to his total for a second time in 2024, with "Never Too Much - Greatest Hits" entering the race at No. 69, one spot behind its position on the overall album sales chart.
