Seizure of Boranbayev's company's land worth 217 million tenge reportedly occurred
In the heart of the Almaty region, a significant change has taken place. A land plot in the village of Shamaalgan was recently sold at an open and transparent auction for 217 million tenge. The plot, previously owned by businessman Kairat Boranbaev, was sold electronically, ensuring objectivity and competitiveness.
Prior to the auction, the plot was part of the Almaly holding company, owned by Mr. Boranbaev. However, the identity of the new owner remains unknown at this time. The sales contract must be concluded between the winner and KUVA within 10 working days following the end of the auction.
This sale is part of a larger trend in the region, as thousands of hectares of land were put up for sale in July. Additionally, in July, over 42,000 hectares of unused land were returned to state ownership in eastern Kazakhstan.
It's worth noting that Kairat Boranbaev returned more than 130 billion tenge to the state in May. The funds from the land auction in the Almaty region will be directed to the Special State Fund, which finances priority social projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and support for socially vulnerable segments of the population.
In a separate development, Mr. Boranbaev was released from prison in early November last year, with the unserved part of his sentence replaced with parole. He voluntarily compensated for damage amounting to approximately 120 billion tenge. The main criminal case recovered damage amounting to 14.5 billion tenge from Mr. Boranbaev.
The total cadastral value of the returned plots exceeded 516 million tenge at the time. The most expensive land plot, valued at 474.7 million tenge, is located in the Zhambyl district of the Almaty region and is intended for agricultural use.
