Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis Showcases Economic Strength at Expo Real 2025
From October 6 to 8, 2025, the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis will showcase its economic prowess at Expo Real in Munich. Led by RBW managing director Volker Suermann, a delegation from Bergisch Gladbach, including Landrat Stephan Santelmann, will present the region's attractions and key projects. Notably, the Zanders area and the Rhombus site in Wermelskirchen will be in the spotlight.
The joint stand, featuring partners like VR Bank eG Bergisch Gladbach-Leverkusen, Kreissparkasse Köln, Hahn Group, and Rösrath OSMAB Holding AG, will highlight the region's potential. The Zanders area, a 36-hectare transformation project, aims to create a mixed-use quarter for residential, business, and educational purposes. Meanwhile, the Rhombus site in Wermelskirchen, a three-hectare new quarter, will offer innovative solutions for commerce, education, and public uses.
Both sites are qualified under REGIONALE 2025, demonstrating the region's commitment to sustainable development. Oliver Brügge, managing director of Zanders Entwicklungsgesellschaft, has been instrumental in the Zanders project since his appointment in October 2024. However, he will step down by July 31, 2026, due to personal reasons.
The Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis' presence at Expo Real 2025 will highlight the region's economic strength and innovative projects. The Zanders area and the Rhombus site, both qualified under REGIONALE 2025, are expected to attract significant interest and investment. Despite the upcoming departure of Oliver Brügge, the region remains committed to its development goals.
