Restructuring progresses on Harderstraße

## Harderstraße Boulevard Transformation: A Greener, Safer, and More Inviting Urban Space

The transformation of Harderstraße boulevard is well underway, with the project set to be completed by **late 2025**. The renovation, which began in May 2024, aims to create a more inviting, sustainable, and pedestrian-friendly urban space.

### Traffic Safety Improvements

To improve traffic safety, the roadway will be narrowed to **6.50 meters**, with a maximum speed limit of **30 km/h**. Additionally, traffic calming measures such as speed bumps, enhanced pedestrian crossings, and clearer road signage will be introduced. Dedicated bike lanes will be created to promote safer cycling and reduce conflicts between vehicles and cyclists.

### Increased Greenery

The boulevard will see a significant addition of trees, shrubs, and plant beds, creating a greener, more attractive environment. Green islands and rain gardens will be installed to improve stormwater management and biodiversity. Sustainable landscaping techniques will be used to reduce maintenance costs and enhance environmental benefits. Small park areas or seating zones surrounded by greenery will encourage community engagement and leisure.

### Amenities and Accessibility

Lighting and furniture will be based on solutions from the old town, creating a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing environment. The number of parking spaces will be reduced in favor of multifunctional uses. The road surface will combine concrete paving stones and granite, and intersection areas will have granite paving to increase driver attention and provide safe crossings for pedestrians.

Barrier-free bus stops and tactile paving for visually impaired people will be added, ensuring accessibility for all. Waste bins will be placed throughout the boulevard, and larger areas for outdoor dining will be available. Around **20 seating benches** will be installed for visitors to rest and enjoy the new urban space.

### Electric Vehicle Charging Station

To promote the use of eco-friendly transportation, a fast-charging station for e-vehicles has been installed at the intersection of Harderstraße / Oberer Graben.

The transformation of Harderstraße boulevard is an exciting development for the city, promising a safer, greener, and more inviting urban space for everyone. With its increased focus on pedestrian safety, sustainable design, and community engagement, the renovated boulevard is set to become a beloved hub for locals and visitors alike.

The transformation of Harderstraße boulevard will also include a focus on the finance and industry sectors, with the installation of an electric vehicle charging station to promote the use of eco-friendly transportation in the industry of transportation. The addition of small park areas or seating zones surrounded by greenery, along with designated bike lanes, aims to attract more businesses and finance opportunities in the sustainable and pedestrian-friendly urban space. Around 20 seating benches will be installed for visitors to rest and enjoy the new environment, fostering a business and social environment that appeals to a diverse range of industries.
