Restrictions Imposed on U2 and U8 Subway Lines Starting from Pentecost Holiday

The city utilities (SWM) and transport company (MVG) are embarking on a project to revamp the rear platform facades at Giesing and Karl-Preis-Platz stations, all part of a wider renewal program for the U-Bahn. Expect some adjustments to the timetable along the way.
Weekend Workouts for U-Bahn Lines
Mark your calendars: increased restrictions are coming to the operation of lines U2 and U8 on the Giesing - Innsbrucker Ring section. Here's the lowdown:
- Giesing - Innsbrucker Ring: Every 20 minutes instead of the regular service
- Feldmoching - Giesing: Regular 10-minute service continues
- Messestadt Ost - Innsbrucker Ring: Alternating every 5 and 15 minutes, with every second train taking a detour via U5
These temporary changes kick off from Friday, June 6, and last until Sunday, July 6, followed by another round from Friday, August 22, to Sunday, September 14.

The walls of our dear Giesing and Karl-Preis-Platz stations need some TLC after 40 years of service. The renovation includes some good ol' elbow grease, repairs, and fresh paint. By October, you'll see a revitalized, sustainable, and stylish design that keeps the stations' charm intact while introducing a burst of new colors.
The project focuses on resource-efficient improvements. Original elements will be preserved and beautified with eco-friendly materials. A vibrant new color scheme will breathe life into the stations, showcasing their unique features and giving them an updated aesthetic.
