Renault Corporation and Verkor: extended business alliance for producing efficient, low-emission batteries over a prolonged period

Renault Group and Verkor, a French battery manufacturer, have entered into a long-term commercial partnership for the supply of electric batteries. This partnership secures a significant annual supply of 12 GWh of high-performance and low-carbon batteries for Renault Group.

The first vehicle to benefit from these batteries will be the future Alpine 100% electric C-Crossover GT. The batteries will be used in the upper segments of Renault Group's brands, indicating a commitment to electric technology across their product line.

Benoit Lemaignan, Co-founder and Chairman of Verkor, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating that it is a testament to the attractiveness and credibility of their project. Francois Provost, Renault Group's Chief Purchasing, Partnerships, and Public Affairs Officer, confirmed continued confidence in Verkor, highlighting the technical quality of their battery product that has been approved by Renault Group.

The partnership aligns with Renault Group's ambition to control the entire electric value chain. By ensuring a reinforced traceability of the elements which compose the batteries, Renault Group aims to maintain transparency and sustainability in their electric vehicle production.

The Dunkirk Gigafactory, scheduled to be operational in 2025, will be a key part of this partnership. Production of these batteries will take place at this facility, with fundraising for its construction still ongoing. The first vehicles to use these batteries will be manufactured in Dieppe, France.

The Verkor Innovation Centre (VIC) in Grenoble has played a role in the development process, contributing to the advancement of battery technology. The batteries supplied under this partnership will be intended for electric vehicles manufactured by Renault Group, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable future for the automotive industry.

This partnership is seen as a significant development in the electric vehicle sector, with the supply of batteries expected to start from 2025. It underscores Verkor's commitment to delivering high-quality, low-carbon battery solutions and Renault Group's dedication to electric mobility.
