Regional investigation of illicit activities in the hairdressing and cosmetics industry, with a specific focus on pig fur customs, involving black-market transactions between barbershops and nail care establishments labeled as HZA-SW.
The Schweinfurt Customs Office recently carried out a special audit targeting the hairdressing and cosmetics industry as part of its ongoing efforts to combat tax evasion and illegal employment. The audit, conducted by 90 officials from the Financial Control Schwarzarbeit (FKS), was carried out across Lower Franconia and large parts of Upper Franconia.
The audit involved 79 inspected businesses, 166 surveyed individuals, and 17 investigations initiated on-site. In addition to these, customs officers found indications of possible violations in a further 42 cases. The possible violations include the suspected withholding and misappropriation of wages in nine cases, evidence of non-payment of the legal minimum wage of 12.82 euros in eight cases, and suspicion of illegal employment of foreign workers in eight cases.
One case showed indications of improper receipt of state social benefits. Numerous violations regarding mandatory registration and record-keeping requirements were also identified by the customs officials.
The data collected from the employees during the on-site interviews will now be cross-checked with the companies' payroll and financial records, and further business documents will be examined. For further information, contact Benedikt Danz at the Press Office of the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt via email at [email protected] or phone at 09721/6464-1030.
The customs audits are a regular part of the Customs Administration's efforts to combat tax evasion and illegal employment. These audits are risk-oriented and involve spot checks and full audits of all employees of an employer. The audits are aimed at maintaining a high number of preventive audits in certain industries.
The customs investigations are ongoing. The Main Customs Office Schweinfurt conducts these audits and considers them an important tool to reduce the social acceptance of tax evasion and illegal employment.
