Regensburg Customs Bust: 9 Cases, 2 Arrests, Millions in Seized Goods
Regensburg Customs Office recently concluded a major operation, leading to nine criminal proceedings, two arrests, and the seizure of large quantities of drugs, weapons, and other smuggled goods.
Over three days in May 2025, more than 85 customs officers from Regensburg and Saxon Großzöbern worked together to combat money laundering and terrorism financing. The operation resulted in significant findings.
In a Bosnian vehicle, over three kilograms of cocaine and ten liters of liquid amphetamines were discovered. The driver initially claimed to be on his way home but later admitted the drugs came from the Netherlands. The Regional Court of Regensburg ordered detention for the driver, who could face up to 15 years in prison for narcotics trafficking.
Elsewhere, customs officers found around 30 new luxury handbags of high-end brands in a vehicle not declared by Ukrainian travelers. A tax evasion procedure was initiated against a 32-year-old passenger, with import duties of over 11,200 euros to be paid. Additionally, a cash seizure and administrative fine procedure was initiated against a Polish entrepreneur who could not prove a truck purchase.
The operation, involving multiple agencies and jurisdictions, has led to several ongoing investigations and legal proceedings. The discovery of large quantities of drugs and other smuggled goods highlights the importance of such operations in combating organized crime and illicit activities.
