Refresh: Buerstner Goes for a Bold Makeover - Only 3 Models Pushing Through Post-Reboot

Prepare to see some major changes in the motorhome manufacturing industry! Not one single model from Buerstner's current product lineup will survive the transition to the 2026 model year. Yep, you heard it right - Buerstner is taking an expansive and exciting new direction.

Quite the dramatic shift, huh? The motorhome and caravan manufacturer is revamping its brand to rejuvenate its offerings - with an aggressive pricing strategy. Everything is on the chopping block. "Buerstner reloaded" is their fresh take, an ambitious reorientation towards the Duesseldorf Caravan Salon (29 August to 7 September) - a move like no other in caravanning history. From their broad industry-leading range, not a single model will be offered in 2026, except for remaining stock at dealers.

Looking at Buerstner's future, it looks leaner and meaner. Their portfolio will be reduced to just three entirely new ranges: Papillon, Habiton, and Signature. No more alcoves, no more integrated models. In fact, the company is completely bailing out of the urban camper or campervan segment, a significant expansion area during the COVID-19 pandemic. But why this drastic change?

A New Era with a New Boss

There seems to have been an issue with the previous management's product strategy, leading to the appointment of industry veteran Hubert Brandl as the new CEO in November 2022. Brandl is known for bringing luxury manufacturer Niesmann to success since 2005.

Auto enthusiasts, keep an eye out! Hubert Brandl acknowledges the missteps at Buerstner: “An excessively large product range. Mostly models without a unique selling point.” He also slams the strong focus on compact urban campers, boring design, and the less-than-original advertising slogan "Feeling at home." To win over customers, a major, bold cut is required, along with a new logo and a new claim - you guessed it, in English - "Dive into the better."

Buerstner Papillon

Leading the way is the Buerstner Papillon, a camper van based on the Fiat Ducato with a 120-horsepower diesel engine. This camper van follows a "back to basics" philosophy and is sparsely equipped with essentials. It sports a transverse bed at the rear that can be folded up to accommodate two bicycles behind it.

The kitchen boasts only an induction hob, but no refrigerator. Optional features include an extra cool box or two additional gas cartridges. The wet room offers customers the option to choose between cassette porta-potti, separate, or dry toilet. Fancy features not in every model? Not necessarily a bad thing. At just 40,000 euros on the road, the Papillon PC600 seems like an impressive deal.

Buerstner Habiton

Based on the Mercedes Sprinter, the Buerstner Habiton becomes the only six-meter camper van with a star to feature longitudinal single beds. This is made possible by a novel flexible solution that Buerstner has patented: a slideshow bathroom. During the daytime configuration, the wet room is located on the driver's side behind the spacious four-seater seating group at the front and extends far into the left bed. When it's time to sleep, the two-seater bench and table are pushed together, the cabin is moved forward, and an additional part is folded down from the bed. The saloon-style bathroom configuration offers a unique selling point that Hubert Brandl wants to promote.

Variety is not an issue, with four different decors for doors and cabinet, various upholstery colors and materials, and almost 100 possible variations in the Habiton. The Habiton's prices start at 73,000 euros for the rear-wheel-drive version and 87,000 euros for the all-wheel-drive version, making it a serious competitor in the increasingly competitive Sprinter market.

Buerstner Signature

The third vehicle in the lineup is the Signature, which aims to attract long-time, loyal part-integrated Buerstner customers. Innovative features include a patented 90-degree rotating seat bench, a ceiling-high extendable sideboard as a room divider between the kitchen and sleeping area, a large 143-liter drawer refrigerator with a compressor, and a variable kitchen that can be expanded with two doors.

An optional pop-up bed nearly disappears into the ceiling. Personal customization is a key focus, with cozy felt linings and diverse decors, upholstery, and colors available. Despite the variety, there are only single or queen bed layouts available in the Signature.

Interestingly, the Signature is essentially a Niesmann iSmove-Liner as a part-integrated vehicle, leveraging synergies. It will first be launched with the Fiat Ducato as the base vehicle in early 2026, starting at 77,000 euros. A few months later, a 10,000 euro more expensive Sprinter variant will be up for grabs.

Special Edition Models in July

To keep things rolling before the official launch, Buerstner is planning to release three B66 special models in July, based on the outgoing models. These models will offer generous features and attractive prices, enticing customers to take the plunge before making the switch to their new 2026 lineup.

Production of these models will continue as long as demand persists, while the B66 Urban Camper as a Copa edition model will only be sold from remaining stock.

Caravan Makeover, Too?

The caravan segment is receiving the same radical treatment, with the product range being replaced by a B66 special model in eight floor plans and entry prices being reduced by 5,000 euros to 25,000 euros. Stay tuned for further updates about the future of Buerstner's caravan offerings!

Stop by the Düsseldorf exhibition at the end of August to check out the first prototypes of the new Buerstner fleet, though sales won't begin until the new year. And remember, there won't be any dealers on-site, so it's a chance to get up close and personal, making informed decisions for a better buying experience.
