Reconstructed pathway in Lermontovo hamlet, following the destruction of the bridge, to be unveiled on the 20th of August
The village of Lermontovo in the Tuapse municipal district of Krasnodar Territory has been left without a crossing after a metal bridge over the Shapsukho river was washed away by mudflows, leaving about 300 houses isolated[1].
The damaged bridge has caused significant inconvenience for the residents, making it difficult for them to reach shops and social institutions. However, alternative routes are being considered as a short-term solution to their transportation problems.
During a reception of citizens by the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, the residents of Lermontovo appealed for help, requesting the opening of an alternative passage through rest bases[2]. In response, the authorities have opened alternative routes for the village, enabling residents to access necessary amenities despite the damaged bridge.
Veniamin Kondratyev emphasized the importance of providing the cut-off part of Lermontovo with alternative routes, stating that installing a temporary bridge in Lermontovo is pointless[3]. Instead, a new, solid bridge will be built in Lermontovo, capable of withstanding strong downpours and strong water flow during heavy rain[4].
The new bridge construction is a plan by the head of the region to address the bridge issue in Lermontovo, providing a long-term solution to the transportation problems caused by the damaged bridge. The new bridge, once completed, will be designed to withstand strong water flow during heavy rain, ensuring the safety and convenience of the residents of Lermontovo.
