Progress Report: On-going road improvement project in the municipality
So, here's what went down:
On July 27, 2023, some genius decided to make the Lothringer Street (L 355) a minefield for drivers. A sneaky cavity appeared under the road surface in the quaint village of Wallerfangen, district of Saarlouis, causing quite the headache for road authorities.
Starting about 100 meters between Nelkenstraße and Blaulochstraße, you can expect a half-lane closure and some traffic lights. They're there to keep everyone safe while they figure out what the hell happened.
But here's the kicker, 'cause these things never go smoothly, a full closure will be inevitable come August 14, 2023. The State Road Authority (LfS) will set up shop in the morning, guided by the technical rules for workplaces (ASR A5.2).
Here's where things get tricky - a detour is in the works. From Wallerfangen, you'll be rerouted via the L 170 to Saarlouis, then hop on the B 405, followed by the B 269 through Picard, Felsberg, Ittersdorf, and onto the L 352 to Bedersdorf. Finally, you'll go through Kerlingen and Gisingen before landing back on the L 355 in Wallerfangen. The reverse route will work for those heading back to St. Barbara.
As for the duration of the repair, well, things are murky down there, and they can't see the underside of that pesky cavity. So, they're advising patience as they put the road back together. They promise to work around the clock to get it done as soon as possible.
The LfS isn't exactly known for causing a party, but they're sorry for any inconvenience this roadblock may cause. With the works underway, expect traffic delays. Their advice? Plan your route wisely, pay heed to traffic updates, and add some extra travel time to your commute. Good luck out there, driving cowboys and cowgirls!
In the midst of these unexpected road works, the finance industry might face a surge in delivery costs due to the detour, as truck drivers transporting goods will have to travel an extended route.
Moreover, the transportation sector could experience a ripple effect, with commuters and travelers in the industry likely to face longer travel times and potential delays due to the half-lane closure and subsequent complete closure of Lothringer Street.
