Potential Traffic Congestion Forecasted on the Astana-Karaganda Highway

The KazAvtoZhol organisation has issued a warning for motorists travelling on the Astana-Karaganda highway, advising them of potential traffic jams due to ongoing repair work on the road. The repair work, which is being carried out on the 0-16 km section of the highway, includes the laying of a new surface of polymer stone-mastic asphalt concrete (SMAC).

The repair work is being conducted on the republican automobile road KAZ01 Astana-Karaganda-Almaty, in the direction of Astana-Karaganda. The road construction company responsible for the middle maintenance of the KAZ01 highway has not been specified, but the work on the 0-16 km section is planned for 2025.

According to the warning, there may be traffic congestion and slow-moving traffic on the Astana-Karaganda highway today, September 19. The company advises drivers to take the repair work into account when planning their trips.

The repair work also includes the installation of roller barrier fences and granite curbs, and the reconstruction of traffic light objects. The company involved in the repair work on the Astana-Karaganda highway has apologised for the temporary inconvenience.

The repair work is being conducted in populated areas, including Michurino, Kuigenzhar, and Zhibek Zholy. Additionally, there is a reported toilet shortage on Kazakhstan's roads, which may cause further delays for drivers.

The MVD of Kazakhstan has made an appeal to drivers regarding the road conditions, urging them to drive carefully and follow traffic regulations to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users.

In related news, KazAvtoZhol has named the most popular routes in Kazakhstan, and in Kazakhstan, payment on toll roads now depends on the condition of the road surface.

The warning was reported by Liter.kz. Motorists are encouraged to check for updates on traffic conditions before embarking on their journeys.
