Playtech, a leading software provider for the online gambling industry, has completed its transition into a purely Business-to-Business (B2B) model in Europe with the sale of its HappyBet German betting operations. The buyer is NetX Betting Ltd, a subsidiary of pferdewetten.de AG, a Frankfurt-listed betting group.

The transaction follows Playtech's earlier sale of Snaitech Spa to Flutter Entertainment for €2.30 billion, signaling a clear strategy to focus on B2B operations. The transition process has commenced, with pferdewetten.de negotiating with franchise partners and seeking regulatory approvals during a designated transition period.

The sale encompasses the transfer of certain associated hardware and the assumption of responsibilities for franchise partners. HappyBet, which obtained one of the first federal sports betting licenses in Germany, will no longer be operated by Playtech but will be managed by pferdewetten.de instead.

The sale is in line with Playtech's objective to return substantial value to its shareholders, as evidenced by the special dividend issued following the Snaitech sale. However, the specific financial details of the HappyBet sale remain undisclosed.

Playtech's decision to exit B2C operations in Europe indicates a renewed focus on B2B services. The company hopes to improve its technology offerings and expand its customer base in high-growth markets. This strategic shift aims to simplify Playtech's business model and enhance its competitiveness in the technology-driven B2B gaming sector.
