Origin Raises €4M for Revolutionary Unmanned Aerial Weapons Systems

Origin, a cutting-edge startup, has developed advanced autonomous unmanned aerial weapons systems for Europe and NATO allies. Founded in March 2022, the company has raised €4M in pre-seed funding, with its flagship product, BEAK, gaining significant attention.

Origin's founders, led by Agris Ķipurs, secured the pre-seed round in two phases. Initially, they raised €1.3M in August 2022, followed by another €1.1M a year later. Notably, the specific product idea played a minimal role in attracting investors. Instead, investors were drawn to the founders' vision and proven track record, with warm introductions and positive referrals being crucial.

The company prioritized securing investment from Latvia-based angel investors, with a few international investors joining later. Besides equity funding, Origin also secured €1.6 million in EU grants and support from the Latvian Ministry of Defence. Ķipurs prefers working with investors who have a strong background in technology-focused startups to avoid unnecessary time consumption. He advises founders to focus on building traction, as it significantly eases future fundraising.

Origin's flagship product, BEAK, is a man-portable Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) designed for rapid deployment and high-precision attacks. With €4M in pre-seed funding and strategic partnerships, Origin is well-positioned to revolutionize unmanned aerial weapons systems for Europe and NATO allies.
