Organized event for entrepreneurs in Nordhorn under the training initiative
The city of Nordhorn recently hosted the annual "North Entrepreneur Day" for the Training Initiative, an organization that has been supporting training companies in the garden and landscape construction sector for nearly eight years.
The event, which took place at the municipal building yard on Enschedestraße, was welcomed by Mayor Thomas Berling. Berling, who completed an apprenticeship in garden and landscape construction, has been actively involved in the examination committee of the Chamber of Agriculture for many years.
Trainer Reinhold Schnieders from the "Green" department of the city of Nordhorn presented the training company to the guests and explained the training concept. Schnieders emphasized the importance of passion and dedication in training, stating that "as a trainer, you have to be passionate and dedicated, and you can't afford to stand still. You can always improve something, and this attitude also motivates the beginners."
Around 35 representatives from member companies across northern Germany attended the event. The Training Initiative currently has 110 member companies throughout Germany, with the city of Nordhorn being a member since 2012. Managing Director Josef Grütters from Grütters GmbH, one of the member companies, presented his company philosophy: "We serve customers who are enthusiastic about us with a team of entrepreneurially thinking and self-responsible employees."
The main discussion during the event was about keeping training companies attractive to young gardeners in the face of a skills shortage. Grütters believes that money is not the best incentive for binding skilled workers: "You have to be able to let go, acknowledge the own competencies of the team members, allow majority decisions. Being able to actively influence the success of the company - that creates lasting motivation and makes us an attractive employer."
The city of Nordhorn values training highly, offering a total of nine different vocational training options. The cityscape with its many well-designed and maintained green areas also earned the hosts many compliments. Schnieders wants to achieve more in training and takes many impulses from the Entrepreneur Day: "There are still some levers that I want to use now to ensure that we continue to count among the top training companies in Germany."
The participants were impressed by the city of Nordhorn as an employer. The Training Initiative continues to seek ways to make the gardener profession more attractive, with the city of Nordhorn actively exchanging ideas as part of the organization. Grütters GmbH from Sonsbeck is one of the member companies and was recently awarded the "Taspo Award" in gardening circles.
