Ökobau Rhine: Challenging Eco-Building Cost Myths Since 2002
Ökobau Rhine, an association promoting ecological construction, was established in 2002 with 36 members. It aims to dispel the myth that eco-friendly building is too costly. Members, ranging from building biologists to solar technicians, pay an annual fee to cover public relations and event organisation.
The association, a spin-off of Interest Group Network e.V., brings together small to medium-sized eco-conscious companies in the construction industry. Raimund Kron, a financial expert, currently serves as the honorary treasurer, having previously held the role of honorary media spokesman.
Monthly specialist lectures are held at Bistro Vogelsgrund am Kölner Südbahnhof, attracting both association members and interested citizens. These events aim to educate and engage the public, challenging the common misconception that ecological construction is prohibitively expensive.
Ökobau Rhine, with its 36 founding members, continues to promote ecological construction practices. Through monthly lectures and public relations efforts, the association strives to inform and engage potential customers, debunking the myth of high costs associated with eco-friendly building.
