Nikki Baughan advances to Reviews Editor role at Screen International; names her as Senior International Critic
Screen International, a leading source for film news and reviews, has made significant changes to its editorial team. Nikki Baughan and Wendy Ide have been appointed as the new reviews editor and senior international critic respectively, effective immediately.
Nikki Baughan, who has been with Screen since 2014, has been promoted from her previous role as deputy reviews editor. She started her career at Screen as a contributing editor and supplements editor. Baughan's extensive experience as a writer and editor has been praised, making her an ideal choice to guide Screen's reviews coverage. Before joining Screen, Baughan was an editor of movieScope and Film Review magazines.
Wendy Ide, who has been covering festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, Rotterdam, Tokyo, Tallinn Black Nights, and CPH:DOX since joining Screen in 2015, has been named senior international critic simultaneously with Baughan’s promotion. Ide's deep understanding and insightful analysis of the global film industry have made her an invaluable asset to Screen.
Joining Baughan and Ide is Tim Grierson, who will work as senior US critic at Screen International. The trio will collaborate to shape and curate Screen's market-leading reviews coverage.
The team will also participate in Screen's awards season podcast, providing in-depth analysis and insights on the latest films. Additionally, they will contribute comment pieces and other writing throughout the year.
Fionnuala Halligan, the previous reviews editor, left Screen in June 2022 to become director of international programs at Red Sea International Film Festival.
Three trailblazing production companies, See-Saw Films, Element, and Monumental, have also joined Screen Summit's trailblazing producers panel. This move further solidifies Screen's position as a key player in the film industry.
The team at Screen International is excited about the fresh perspectives and expertise that Baughan, Ide, and Grierson bring to the table. Their appointments mark a new chapter in the publication's history, and audiences can look forward to engaging and insightful content in the coming months.
