"Newcomer Shines in 'The Lion's Den'"
Lena Gercke, the successful entrepreneur and former winner of Germany's Next Top Model, is set to join the investor panel on Vox's popular show "Die Höhle der Löwen" starting August 25th. She will be sitting alongside Dagmar Wöhrl, Ralf Dümmel, Judith Williams, and Frank Thelen.
Gercke brings her extensive entrepreneurial experience to the table, having grown her own brand, LeGer, into a multi-million dollar empire. LeGer, which sells fashion, home accessories, furniture, beauty, and lifestyle products, has seen a double-digit million-euro turnover.
The 37-year-old mother of two, who is also a member of the advisory board for "26 Homes", a real estate start-up, will be using her role on the show to find a suitable start-up for herself.
Gercke's debut as a guest investor was without much preparation, as she wanted to remain open and authentic during her interactions with the founders and their pitches. She was particularly impressed by the passion of the founders and the tension in the studio. She was warmly welcomed into the investor team and quickly formed good relationships with experienced jurors like Judith Williams and Frank Thelen.
Frank Thelen is back on the team after a five-year absence, and Gercke feels honoured to be part of "Die Höhle der Löwen". She is looking forward to understanding and fostering the ideas and potential of start-ups.
In addition to her role on the show, Gercke is also an investor and mentor, which helps her to understand the challenges and opportunities of start-ups first-hand. She will be joining forces with Christian Miele, a former chairman of the Startup Association, to strengthen the investor team.
Stefanie Giesinger, a Berlin native who made it onto the prestigious Forbes list, is also associated with the show, although the exact nature of her involvement is not yet clear.
