New president appointed by OCMBC as executive faces murder and DUI charges
In a recent press release, the mortgage lender OCMBC was ranked as the No. 2 non-qualified mortgage lender. Despite the leadership shakeup, the company remains fully operational with no disruptions to service.
John Hamel, the former Chief Capital Markets Officer, has taken on the role of president at OCMBC. Hamel joined the company two years ago and is part of a dedicated leadership team committed to maintaining OCMBC's standards of excellence and commitment to clients and partners.
However, the press release did not provide information about any changes in the company's retail strategy, products or services, partnerships, or leadership beyond the leadership change.
Meanwhile, an unrelated incident involving another individual, Serene Vernon, has been making headlines. Vernon, who was driving in Dana Point, was involved in a fatal collision that resulted in the death of Melvin Joseph Weibel, an 88-year-old passenger in the other vehicle. Vernon has three prior convictions, including driving under the influence in 2010 and child abuse and endangerment in 2012. She was charged with murder and driving under the influence on Friday.
The Irvine, California-based OCMBC has placed Vernon on administrative leave. The company did not provide any additional comment beyond the press release. CEO Rabi Aziz expressed sympathy for those affected by the tragic event and expressed confidence in Hamel and the leadership team to guide the company forward.
Despite the leadership change and the unfortunate incident, OCMBC continues to serve borrowers who don't meet traditional lending requirements. The company's commitment to providing mortgage solutions for those who may not qualify for traditional loans remains steadfast.
