Deutsche Bank has announced the appointment of Simone Kämpfer as its new General Counsel, effective September 15, 2025. Kämpfer will join the bank as a member of the Group Management Committee, succeeding Friederike Rotsch who is leaving the bank to pursue new opportunities.
Kämpfer, currently one of the most senior partners at Freshfields, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She is widely recognized as one of Germany's foremost experts in commercial law, compliance, regulatory matters, governance, and investigations. Her strong track record in legal leadership and her expertise in handling complex regulatory issues make her a strategic choice for Deutsche Bank, as the bank looks to reinforce its focus on legal and regulatory challenges in the financial sector.
Kämpfer's appointment is not the only change in the bank's Compliance & Anti-Financial Crime division. Ralph Nash has been appointed as Nita Patel's successor, effective August 1. Nash will report directly to Laura Padovani and will be located in Frankfurt.
