Multiple train routes temporarily unavailable; commuters forced to utilize bus transportation instead

In a recent announcement, Deutsche Bahn has informed passengers of several rail disruptions affecting various routes in Southwest Germany.

Firstly, due to bridge construction works on the Gäubahn, passengers travelling between Engen/Singen and Konstanz are advised to switch to trains operated by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The same advice applies to those travelling between Villingen and Donaueschingen, as the section between these two destinations will be temporarily replaced by Express buses operated by Deutsche Bahn from September 12 to October 17, 2025.

The Black Forest Railway will also be affected by construction work until October 17, with the line closed from Friday evening at 10 pm to Monday morning at 2:30 am. Replacement buses will be provided for passengers on this route.

Travelers should also plan for disruptions and delays on the Gäubahn this weekend, as the closure is due to bridge construction work. No specific details about these disruptions were provided in the announcement.

In addition, overhead line expansion work is being carried out on the Hochrheinbahn, which may result in train cancellations between Waldshut and Erzingen during the construction period. Passengers on this route can expect some service disruptions.

To help passengers navigate these changes, Deutsche Bahn recommends using the DB Navigator app and the timetable information for detailed travel information during the construction period. Passengers can switch to buses between Villingen, Donaueschingen, and Engen, while for connections beyond Engen/Singen to Konstanz, SBB trains are recommended.

Starting this Saturday, the line between Basel and Erzingen (Waldshut district) will be electrified. Meanwhile, replacement buses will be provided for passengers on the Hochrheinbahn between Waldshut and Erzingen, and between Oberndorf, Rottweil, and Singen (Konstanz district) due to bridge construction works.

Passengers are advised to check the latest updates and plan their journeys accordingly, as these disruptions are expected to last until October 17.
