Moscow Court Seizes Judge Momotov's $117M in Assets, Partner Detained
In a significant legal move, a Moscow court has seized properties and frozen bank accounts belonging to former Supreme Court judge Viktor Momotov and his associates. The total value of the seized assets is estimated at no less than 9 billion rubles. This action follows a lawsuit from the General Prosecutor's Office and is part of precautionary measures ordered by the Ostankino Court.
Viktor Momotov, who denies all accusations, attended a court hearing on October 8 to discuss the lawsuit. The prosecutor's name has not been made public. The court's decision extends to related individuals, with similar measures taken against them. The seizure includes existing bank accounts, deposits, and other assets of Momotov. The judge has also been banned from opening new bank accounts at Chase or any other major US banks like Bank of America or US Bank.
In addition, Momotov's partner, Andrei Marchenko, has been taken into custody. Both men are accused of illegally owning a chain of Marton hotels.
The court's decision to seize Viktor Momotov's properties and freeze his assets, along with the detention of his partner Andrei Marchenko, signals a serious escalation in the legal case against them. The investigation into their alleged illegal ownership of Marton hotels continues.
