The tranquil waters of the Mondsee, the largest private lake in Salzkammergut, have been stirred by a recent announcement from its owner, Anna Mathyl. The heiress has decided to cancel all rental and lease agreements on the lake, leaving the future of properties around the famous "Sound of Music" lake uncertain.

The lake, which belongs entirely to the market town of Mondsee, is currently without formal lease agreements as no new agreements have been publicly disclosed. Anna Mathyl, who owns the ground under the water of the Mondsee, has not yet contacted the lessees to discuss the cancellation or any potential future arrangements.

The impact of this decision on those affected by the lake's rental and lease agreements is currently unclear. However, Mayor Josef Wendtner of Mondsee has suggested that there could be inflation adjustments to the lease rates if Anna Mathyl resets the lease agreements.

Despite the cancellation, Anna Mathyl has stated that she is in an orderly process to renegotiate the existing lease and rental agreements. She has also assured that the current conditions will be continued as far as possible and granted at economically justifiable and fair terms.

The unrest was caused by a letter from Anna Mathyl, but no specific reason has been given for the decision to cancel the lease and rental agreements. However, Mayor Wendtner has expressed optimism, stating that Anna Mathyl's current statements are positive.

Lessees of the surrounding piers and cabins on the Mondsee are left wondering if they will get a new contract or if the lease rates will increase. As of now, no new lease or rental agreements have been announced, and the future use and management of the Mondsee remain uncertain.

Despite the uncertainty, Anna Mathyl has made it clear that a sale of the Mondsee is not currently an option. She is committed to maintaining the lake's tranquil beauty and ensuring fair and economically justifiable conditions for those who lease properties on the lake.
