The regional tripartite commission on labor relations in Magadan has recommended that mining organizations in the region take steps to reduce industrial accidents and improve safety. The primary focus is on enhanced safety training for miners, especially regarding their statutory rights under the Mine Safety and Health Act.

The commission's recommendations highlight the importance of raising awareness and understanding among workers about safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents. They also suggest applying for and utilizing available safety funding aimed at training programs to support these efforts.

Inadequate production organization, including a lack of control by managers and specialists, accounts for 20% of the minor accidents among mining industry workers. To address this, the commission recommends improving production organization and management control in the mining industry.

Technical solutions to prevent transport collisions and runovers are also being implemented. This includes replacing and modernizing expired main mining transport equipment and mechanisms with modern equipment. Strengthening control over production processes and equipment operation, ensuring compliance with exploitation and occupational safety requirements, is another key measure.

The commission also emphasizes the importance of ensuring the mandatory and correct use of personal protective equipment by employees. Organizing mandatory training and on-the-job training for production personnel in their profession and labor safety is another crucial aspect, with special attention paid to workers without relevant experience and qualifications.

When organizing material support for production processes, the use of certified equipment, materials, and raw materials that comply with the production technology is encouraged. Safety checks in underground and open-pit mining should pay special attention to technological discipline, adherence to mining and quarrying work technology requirements, compliance with rock support and roof management plans, and suitability for geological conditions.

To ensure a healthy work environment, an optimal work and rest schedule is established, ensuring that workers have a weekly uninterrupted rest of at least 42 hours. When organizing pre-employment and periodic mandatory medical examinations for workers in hazardous conditions, as well as psychiatric assessments, the accuracy of the results obtained is ensured.

Control over the compliance with labor safety and industrial safety requirements by subcontracting organizations is also being organized. Developing measures to prevent deviations from approved mining plans is another important aspect.

A regional meeting on occupational safety was held with heads of organizations involved in mineral extraction to discuss these recommendations. The preventive measures, aimed at reducing industrial accidents and improving safety in mining organizations, were reported by our site in the Magadan region's government.

In the first half of 2025, 21 minor cases were recognized as insurable out of a total of 43. Of these 21 cases, nearly half (10 cases) involved workers in the mining industry. These statistics underscore the need for the preventive measures being implemented.
